Educational Programs

There are currently 12 accredited Master’s Level education programs training Anesthesiologist Assistants. Each program has a matriculation period of 24-28 months and a curriculum that also includes a Graduate Degree in the Health Sciences.  Additionally, each graduate will have completed over 2000 clinical hours in the operating room upon graduation from their respective program.


The National Commission for the Certification of Anesthesiologist Assistants (NCCAA) is the organization charged with the development and administration of both the initial certifying exam and the subsequent re-certification exams. The NCCAA is also responsible for validation of the continuing medical education hours required to maintain certification.
